Queens, NY- NY State Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan (AD-37) proudly endorsed Debra Markell in her race for City Council. Highlighting her experience, Assemblywoman Nolan named Markell as having the necessary leadership style needed to guide New York through Covid-19.

Nolan joins former Congressman Steve Israel in supporting Markell. “I have known Debra for many years as a strong advocate in her community. Lifelong Queens resident, Debra Markell is running for City Council in the 23rd council district. Running in a crowded field, she is placing senior issues, co-op and condos, and expanded public transportation at the center of her campaign. Markell served as president of the 109th Precinct Community Council and Queens Director of the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit from 1998 to 2006. Markell is the Chairwoman of the F.D.R. Democratic Club Executive Committee, Political Director at North Shore Towers, and is Chairwoman of the Flushing Hospital Advisory Board.
